Abstract
In order to study the interrelation between the strength indicators and physical indicators of rock under freezing and thawing cycle condition, the interrelation between the mechanical indicators such as the comprehensive strength and shear strength of rock and the physical indicators such as its longitudinal wave velocity and porosity under freezing and thawing cycle condition was established on the basis of laboratory experiments and theoretical analysis. The experimental results showed that with the increase of the number of freezing and thawing cycles, the porosity of the rock increased and its longitudinal wave velocity, axial comprehensive strength, elastic modulus and cohesion decreased;.under the freezing and thawing cycle condition, there was a good correlation between the porosity, longitudinal wave velocity, axial comprehensive strength, elastic modulus and cohesion of the coarse sandstone. Therefore, the measurement of the porosity and longitudinal wave velocity of rock can better reflect its strength attenuation relationship in the process of freezing and thawing cycle.
