Study on the wettability of coal dust suppressants

  • Three kinds of coal fines were selected as the research objects, and the wettability of seven different dust suppressants was tested respectively. Based on the component of coal fines and particle size analysis result, combined with the electric potential and surface tension properties of dust suppressants, the effect of dust suppressant on wettability of coal fines was studied by the contact angle and forward osmosis experiment on the surface of coal fines. The results show that the contact angle of dust suppressants on the surface is inversely proportional to the ash content of coal fines; the surface tension of dust suppressant solution and the interfacial tension between liquid and solid jointly affect the wetting ability of dust suppressant on the surface of coal fines; dust suppressants have great differences in improving the permeability of coal fines with different particle sizes. Dust suppressants with smaller electric potential can effectively improve the surface wettability of coal dust with smaller particle sizes.
